Our resident
trainer is the yards owner, Lorna
Anderson, a British Dressage
Group 4 rider who works with liveries on their horses flatwork issues. A management consultant and trainer by profession, Lornas belief in positive feedback is reflected in her coaching style. She trains with Spencer Wilton and our two superb regular flatwork trainers, Jane Rutherford and Sue Baxter. Jane Rutherford, British Dressage Regional Trainer, has made Hogholm her headquarters for three days per month since March 2004. Based in Berwickshire, Jane initially trained with the late Lady Joicey and now trains with Patsy Bartram and Adam Kemp. Jane believes in positive feedback, communicating clearly with riders to identify their aims and ambitions before working on improving the horse and rider partnership. Her popularity stems not only from her indisputable teaching and coaching skills, but also her entertaining and inclusive style of communication. Sue Baxter, - British Dressage Regional Trainer, List 2 Judge and International 3-Day Event Judge, trains here on a fortnightly basis. Sue, a former 3-day eventer, has competed at Burghley and judged at Badminton and Burghley, in France and in North America. Sues experience and perspective as a Judge is invaluable, both in producing young horses and developing older, more established ones. Her calm, sympathetic approach is appreciated by horses and riders alike. Show
jumping training
is covered by our regular show jumping trainer, who was too shy to be named! Suffice
to say that he is a well-known and respected show jumping producer, trainer and
competitor who manages to generate the confidence to jump higher and better whilst
reducing his pupils to fits of laughter. His sessions have a real social aspect,
attracting a loyal band of riders/spectators complete with chairs, rugs, picnics
and video cameras.
