Alison West
Alison left school after sitting her Highers and worked for Valerie Irvine for six
years, breaking and producing both home-bred and clients’ horses. In 2008, Alison
set up her own business, West Eventing, based at Valerie’s yard near Rothienorman.
She has built up an excellent reputation for breaking youngsters and re-backing difficult
horses, in addition to schooling more established horses on the flat and over jumps.
Her main horse is Salue, a 10-year old gelding by Henricus, who she has produced
herself from a 3-year old. Salue is eventing at Intermediate level and is ready for
Advanced tracks. Wearing his dressage hat, he competes affiliated at Medium and is
working at Advanced Medium at home.
Following hot on Salue’s heels is Alison’s other horse, Suzie Q. A 6-year old mare
by Bal Harbour, Suzie Q competes at BE100 and has been produced by Alison from a
4-year old.
The move to Hogholm will enable Alison to work her, and her clients’ horses, all
year round and offer clients a more central location with excellent training and
viewing facilities.
